Welcome!
Welcome to the nurdz movie page! This is still very much a work in progress, but I've decided to launch it and start posting a few videos anyway. As I go along, I think of things that I'd like to change and modify things accordingly. Who said you needed to have a concrete plan to put things on the internet?
All movies play directly in your browser thanks to the magic of javascript and Flash. So you need to have javascript turned on in order for things to work. You probably also want to be on some sort of broadband (i.e. not dial-up) internet connection as well, or you'll have to wait a really long time for anything exciting to happen. If you have a dial-up internet connection, you probably already know that anyway.
Up above is a list of movie categories (the tabs with the icon on them). Just click on those to see all movies
related to that particular category. The categories are:
- Food allows you to watch movies involving the preparation of food or other foody-related things..
- Funny is a list of movies that are meant to be funny (to someone, somewhere. Possibly only to Team Nurdz).
- Guitar is a list of movies related to guitar. This started out as a video blog (vlog?) and then morphed into something else. This section is split into multiple categories, so look for a second set of tabs to get at other content.
- Walter is a list of movies starring our Morkie Puppy Walter. You should watch these as soon as possible, because Walter is pretty disobedient and refuses to listen to our commands to stop growing up, so soon he won't be a puppy anymore, and then who'll want to watch him do stuff?
- Other is a place to put stuff that doesn't fit into any other category here.
- Contrib is where videos that aren't created by Nurdy Movies are posted. That is to say, we host videos for others, and this is where they be. This page is split up amongst the various movie contributors.
All movies on the site are downloadable by clicking on the link you'll see on the video page. Depending on your operating system and browser you may need to right click on the link and choose "Save link as..." to get things to work. The videos are in various formats (FLV, F4V, M4V etc) and you'll probably need to install some sort of video player for your operating system to view them outside of this web page (the flash plugin allows you to view the movies on the website even with no other player installed on your computer).
I hear that The VLC Player is good, though I have never used it. A quick google search will find you others.
Feel free to share around the content that you find here, if you think it's good enough. You can share the downloaded files, or just provide links. If you like you can also use my videos in your own work. Check out the license page for details. It's not scary, I promise!
